A Pretty Dress with an Unpretty News Update Link

Ric Rac Dress in Clay | Pinup Girl Clothing.

While the photo is underwhelming for me, the dress luckily stands out for me. Summer hasn’t started here yet and I’m desperate for some heat on my skin. This one reminded me of hot muggy days in the office, it seems so far away I keep reaching for fashion and shoes that are heat-friendly. The Ric Rac Dress in Clay is on Pinup Girl for $92 US in sizes Extra-Small to Extra-Large. Shipping is a whopping and unreasonable $39.92 US to Canada. I hope it’s cheaper for American shoppers.

Yesterday day I posted a news story in its early stages. The emerging story is disturbing and graphic. For those who are curious about the developing gong show and have a strong stomach, here’s a MSN news story reposted from The Canadian Press. I’m not going there blog-wise and I’m dropping this story at this point.

Wow…Ew

Severed foot sent to Tory HQ in bloody box –  News – MSN CA.

Yikes. An unfortunate receptionist opened up a blood soaked box (should’ve been her first clue) and found a severed foot. This receptionist works at the Conservative Party Headquarters in Ottawa, blocks from Parliament Hill. Security is evidently a bit lacking, perhaps because of a sense of security. Definitely not something I hear of every day.

Something to Walkabout

I love these. They remind me of a lower heeled style that I wore in the 1980’s as a child. The shoes made me feel so pretty and grown-up. I’m having a lot of trouble resisting these. $68.99 US on ModCloth.

B.C. man fined $6,000 for feeding ‘pot bears’ –  News – MSN CA.

Seriously. A man was feeding over two dozen black bears to protect and guard his marijuana grow operation. He treated them like friendly pets and fed them over $200 a week in dog food. When the next summer after his arrest had ended, 17 bears in the Christina Lake area had to be destroyed due to aggressive and familiar behaviour. It’s not really known for sure how many of these bears are the pot bears, B.C. conservation officers suspect many of them were. Bears protecting pot… only in BC.

Winsome Style Dress

Winsome Style Dress | Mod Retro Vintage Dresses | ModCloth.com.

I love this dress even though it’s a completely inappropriate colour for both my life and work. The red is a great contrast, but the white is a disaster waiting to happen for this worker in a mineral exploration and camp services business. I would’ve jumped on this had it been in black or navy and red. $99.99 on ModCloth.

Bear drags Winnipeg man from camp outhouse

Bear drags Winnipeg man from camp outhouse – Thunder Bay – CBC News.

As I say goodbye to my husband and son as they head out to camp for the Minerals North Conference, I am reminding them to close the outhouse door! On a more serious note, he’s lucky his friend was paying attention and armed or he would be dead right now.

Shimmer Sheet Set

SEPHORA COLLECTION Shimmer Sheet Set: Shop Luminizer | Sephora.

Here’s a pretty and handy idea from Sephora, oil blotting sheets with blush and highlighters within. I use oil-blotting sheets at least once a day, and I find the idea intriguing. The rating is a little low at only 3/5 stars, so I’ll be watching to see if it goes up. I don’t usually buy something unless a product is at least 4 stars to avoid crappy products. This sheet set is selling for $19 CA on Sephora.
