I recently picked up two shades of the new Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipsticks in Catwalk and Fashionista. Advertised as long-wearing and moisturizing with shea butter and aloe.

The shade catwalk is almost bronze in colour with a hint of red. Fashionista is a deeper coral-red. The lipsticks themselves are a bit sheer, but well pigmented. The finish is “suede”, almost matte with very little shine. Moisture-wise, they are less drying than most long-lasting lipsticks but still dry out my lips within 30 minutes. They must be reapplied on a regular basis to avoid the ring around your mouth as they wear off from the inside out, leaving coloured flakes behind.

I picked these up at Shoppers Drug Mart for $12.99 CA. Available in 20 shades.

MUFE Rouge Artist Natural

Posted on

My current favourite lipstick is the Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural (what a mouthful of a name) in #47 Red Brick. It goes on comfortably with a translucent finish and feels moisturizing. I do not have to use a lip gloss or balm on top of this to prevent dryness, which I appreciate. A red lip with cracks and flakes isn’t the idea.

The colour itself is a warm toned brick red. One swipe and I’m done, even without a mirror. I don’t need to use a lip brush as the colour and consistency is quite forgiving within my clear lip liner. My bad habit of smushing my lips doesn’t result in a crazy lady effect. I get about 3-4 hours of wear from this lippie, quite good considering my constant smushing and sipping of liquids. At $19 US or $22 CA on Sephora, the price is quite reasonable and I’m looking forward to getting more colours.
